Cuba reports 44 patients with Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2

Havana, Dec 27 (Prensa Latina) The national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), Dr. Francisco Duran, said on Monday that Cuba has reported 44 patients with the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid -19.

At a televised press conference, Dr. Duran explained that in the week of December 19 to 25, 38 people with this coronavirus mutation were detected.

He added that 25 of them are Cubans and 19 are foreigners.

Recently, the president of the Cuban Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Group, Eduardo Martinez, noted that Cuba is developing specific vaccines against Omicron.
