Vietnamese fish exports are close to annual goal

vietnamitas-pescado
Hanoi, Dec 27 (Prensa Latina) Shipments of Vietnamese fishery and aquaculture products are close to their goal of 8.9 billion dollars in 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported.

From January to September, exports decreased as a result of Covid-19 pandemic and the consequent instabilities in production and the international market, but a rebound in the last three months of the year will allow revenues to exceed 2020 by 4.6 percent, the according to the Ministry.

The recovery of shrimp orders from the United States, Europe, Japan, China, South Korea and other major consuming markets was decisive in this, after a year of decline. Exports of tuna, squid and octopus also recovered well.

Vietnam plans to modernize the seafood processing industry to become one of the top five exporters of processed seafood by 2030.

With a coastline of more than 3,260 kilometers, an economic zone of more than a million square kilometers, and abundant freshwater reservoirs, including irrigation canals for rice plantations, Vietnam has enormous fishing potential.

Fishing is one of the 25 groups of products that report an income of more than one billion dollars each year, but the immediate goal of the sector is to join the club of six that earn more than 10 billion dollars.
