The official stressed in an interview with TASS news agency that the Russian Foreign Ministry expects that this first meeting “will turn into negotiations on our draft agreements.”
Ryabkov added that the parties will not resolve all the issues at a single meeting; however, he explained that the process cannot be dragged out any longer due to the urgency and importance of the issue, in order to stop the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) towards the Russian border.
According to the deputy foreign minister, consultations between Russia and NATO will be held in Brussels.
He also noted that an interdepartmental delegation will attend the meeting with the US representatives, at which Russia’s Defense Ministry will have a broad presence.
“Accordingly, we expect that NATO members, including the United States, will ensure adequate representation of their military departments,” Ryabkov noted.
