Syria links professional education with productive process

Damascus, Dec 30 (Prensa Latina) Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued this Thursday a new law that creates and organizes the professional education sector in order to support the productive process and supply the labor market with technicians and professionals.

The new educational system created by this legislation has a three-year duration starting immediately after the passing of ninth grade, and its main objective is to train technicians to meet the needs of the reconstruction and production process and sustainable development.

The practical and theoretical curricula of this new phase of education will be linked to those of economic and social development, so as to meet the needs of the national economy, commented Syrian Education Minister Darem Tabaa.

He explained that students will be trained according to their skills and tendencies, and a generation of graduates equipped with theoretical knowledge, experience and practical professional skills will be trained.

The students will also have the opportunity to take higher education in accordance with the approved admission conditions and criteria, which improves the students’ desire to study in such schools, the incumbent clarified.

Syria lost many of its professionals who emigrated due to the conflict and the new law aims to diversify and increase the workforce needed for the reconstruction and recovery process.
