Through his Twitter account, Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodriguez added that the island celebrates, with prudence and responsibility, the advent of a new year of opportunities, challenges, changes and victories.
The nations’ president Miguel Diaz-Canel previously urged to start the new year with optimism and joy after a difficult 2021.
The president stressed that a period of losses and hard learning is coming to an end, but also of victories.
“Together with my family, I want to send a hug to all of you, inviting you to embark together on the path of the New Year, with optimism and joy,” added the head of state on Twitter.
On several occasions the country’s top leadership has highlighted the heroism, talent and creativity of the people of the island to face the adversities of 2021 in the face of the tightening of the U.S. blockade and the Covid-19 situation.
In the middle of the year, Cuba began to experience its most complex period of confronting the pandemic, which gradually led to the control of the disease, thanks to the massive vaccination campaign with nationally produced immunogens.
On the other hand, the country’s authorities have insisted on the damages caused to the domestic economy by the imposition of coercive measures by the United States and the intensification of Washington’s siege against the island, a policy that remained unchanged after the arrival of Democrat Joe Biden to the White House.
