From 2000 to 2020, the number of tobacco users dropped by 69 million, out of a third of the world’s inhabitants to less than a quarter, WHO posted on Twitter.

Two years ago, only 32 countries were on track to scale down tobacco consumption up to 30% from 2010 to 2025, while now there are just 60%, decisive mission for health and prevention of non-communicable diseases.

However, progress is fragile, as the tobacco industry has capitalized on Covid-19 to influence on a great number of countries, WHO tweeted.
