In a press release posted on Twitter, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia reiterated his strongly support and solidarity with the Caribbean nation, to which Venezuela is deeply linked by historical ties.
“The Homeland of Bolívar and Chávez, on this significant day for all Haitians, wants to reaffirm its commitment and willingness to continue building the best relations of friendship, cooperation and solidarity with Haiti,” the statement reads.
The statement also praised Haitians´ freedom struggles and fighting spirits, an example spread across Latin America over 200 years ago, the desire for freedom and independence. Plus, the statement urged for the regional integration, the birthplace of Libertadores such as Alejandro Pétion, Touissant L’Odberture, Simón Bolívar and Francisco de Miranda.
Likewise, it encouraged to become the epicenter of peace, integration in diversity and freedom for the well-being of brother countries, as a genuine legacy of distinguished heroes.
