The award will be granted for the relevant services of these scientific entities in the successful fight against COVID-19 and other aspects of public health in Cuba and other countries, said SEAP’s president, Zoila Benitez, in a press release.
The presentation will take place on the 14th of this month at the Society’s headquarters, in this capital city, on the occasion of its General Meeting, which coincides with SEAP’s 229th anniversary.
As stated in the press release, the agenda of the meeting includes the commemoration of the legacy of Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler, Honorary President of the Society.
It also includes, the presentation of the Felix Varela Award, granted by the Social Sciences Section of SEAP, the presentation of the new Honorary and Merit members.
It also involves the presentation of the most recent members of the organization as Full Members; the report of SEAP’s activities during 2021; and the main actions to be carried out during 2022.
The Economic Society of Friends of the Country (SEAP) of Havana was reactivated in 1994 in its Third Epoch, so named in view of its foundation in 1793 and the different moments it went through in its history.
