Iran demands the abolition of U.S. sanctions

Hossein-Amir-Abdollahian
Tehran, Jan 7 (Prensa Latina) Iran reiterated today that its main demand in the nuclear dialogue in Vienna, Austria, is the total abolition of oppressive U.S. measures.

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian expressed that Tehran also seeks guarantees that these provisions imposed by order of former President (2017-2021) Donald Trump will not be repeated.

“We seek the removal of sanctions, especially those that are at odds with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or nuclear deal,” he stressed.

Likewise, he added, we demand guarantees that there will be no more such measures.

“The eighth round of talks in Vienna is on the right track and it is possible to achieve consensus with the Western parties if they show serious determination,” the Iranian diplomacy chief referred.

Amir-Abdollahian revealed details of an off-the-record exchange between Tehran and Washington to facilitate the ongoing talks.

“We heard good messages from the Americans in Vienna, but the important thing is to see them taking serious steps,” he pointed out.
