The visit, slated for February 3, will be paid due to an invitation made by his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, during a bilateral conversation in which both presidents addressed several issues, Holguin said at a press conference.
He added that Ecuador is experiencing one of its best moments with China, marked by an excellent relationship since May 24, when the new government was inaugurated.
In this regard, he clarified that more than 50 percent of the vaccines received to fight the Covid-19 pandemic are Sinovac and CanSino, produced by Chinese laboratories.
He pointed out that some of the main topics to be debated during the visit are the signing of a trade agreement with China, so they are already working on a memorandum of understanding.
The second most important topic was the creation of mechanisms to pay Ecuador’s debt to China, which accounts to more than five billion dollars, most of which has to be paid in the next three years.
Therefore, 4.2 billion dollars will be the sum to be paid in this period.
