Cuban authorities insist on the need for food development

Havana, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz today advocated the design of a successful model of food production that places mankind at the center.

In this regard, he stressed that this program should promote that producers fee themselves stimulated, take ownership of the initiative, obtain results and improve their personal and family living conditions.

During a governmental visit to Granma province, in the eastern part of the country, Marrero Cruz insisted on this issue at a time when Cuban authorities are seeking to make progress in domestic food production and fully contribute to the substitution of imports in this sector.

As part of that tour, Marrero and other high-ranking Cuban officials initially visited the Granma 2 production block, an enclave for the development of different crops on 260 hectares, which will enable the self-sufficiency of the more than 128,000 inhabitants of the municipality of Manzanillo, the second most populated in the province.

A note published by the Presidency of the Republic on Twitter points out that during this governmental visit, an action that is usually carried out by different regions of the island, the economic and social development plans of the territory will be evaluated.

The visit is also headed by the Vice President of the Republic, Salvador Valdes Mesa, and is attended by deputy prime ministers, heads of various portfolios and other authorities.
