In a telephone conversation on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations (January 18), the heads of Government congratulated each other on the the country’s socioeconomic progress in building socialism under the leadership of their respective Communist parties.
They also praised the shared dividends of the bilateral strategic cooperation partnership, one of the results was that bilateral trade reached 60 billion dollars in 2021.
Minh Chinh also welcomed the supply to Vietnam of millions of doses of Chinese-made vaccines against Covid-19 and the sharing of China’s experience in dealing with the pandemic.
The two prime ministers agreed on maintaining channels of dialogue on common land and maritime borders in the interest of good coexistence and peace and stability in the region.
Regarding the disputes in the East or South China Sea, they underlined their determination to settle them in accordance with international law and on the basis of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The parties also called for the early conclusion of the terms of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea, in conjunction with the other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
