Japan’s donation of 84 Isuzu buses arrives in Cuba

Havana, Jan 14 (Prensa Latina) A donation of 84 Isuzu buses from Japan arrived in Cuba on Thursday to strengthen the public transportation system and contribute to improving passengers' mobility in Havana.

On his Twitter account, Minister of Transportation Eduardo Rodriguez thanked Japan on behalf of the Cuban people, Government and State for its gesture of cooperation, which is part of the Non-Reimbursable Financial Aid, through the Agency Procurement Japan International Cooperation System (JICS).

Leandro Mendez, general director of Transportation in Havana, noted that at the moment they are working to expedite the legalization of the buses for their subsequent start-up, Tribuna de La Habana newspaper reported.

The buses left Colombia, where they were assembled, on January 9, and arrived in the country thanks to the efficient management of the Itochu Corporation, Isuzu Motors and Busscar companies, from that South American country.

Japan’s Large-Scale Non-Reimbursable Financial Assistance began in Cuba in 2015 and has contributed to large-scale projects to boost the country’s social and productive development.
