Freedom Caravan concludes its trip in Cuba

Pinar del Río, Cuba Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) With its arrival today in the western city of Pinar del Río, the Caravan of Freedom concludes its journey in Cuba, a re-edition of the route undertaken by Fidel Castro 63 years ago.

The journey began in the southern municipality of Los Palacios and reached the capital city of Pinal del Río, 182 kilometers from Havana, with young people from different sectors as protagonists.

In the historic intersection of Martí and Rafael Ferro streets, where the leader of the Cuban Revolution addressed the people gathered on January 17, 1959, in an improvised tribune the commitment of the new generations was heard. The first secretary of the Young Comunist League in this western province, Joel Rodríguez, highlighted the honor that means for the new generations to re-edit the event that marked a milestone in the local history.

The new generations are committed to defending and continuing the work that our elders accomplished, pointed out Rodríguez.

In the midst of strict protection measures due to the complex epidemiological scenario that the western territory is once again experiencing, local people welcomed the passage of the caravan through towns and cities.

The Freedom Caravane began its journey last January 3 through the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba and was accompanied by young people, combatants and witnesses of the historic event.
