To this end, three diplomats arrived in Saudi Arabia to establish themselves in the city of Jeddah, from where they will assume their functions before the sub-regional organization.
Khatibzadeh described this episode as a prelude to the resumption of relations between Riyadh and Tehran.
“Iran has always shown readiness to reopen its embassy in Saudi Arabia,” he added.
Previously, Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, of the Iranian Parliament’s Foreign Policy and National Security Committee, revealed that the two countries are preparing conditions for embassies after five years of severed ties.
The restoration of ties would play an important role in easing tensions in the region, Rahimi Jahanabadi noted.
