US authorities made the remarks on Friday through press releases and publicity in this country, which indicated that similar measures will also be implemented at the border with Canada.

Mexicans should present every time they cross the border, even if they do it every day, the documents in which the complete immunization schemes are registered, that is, two or three shots depending on the vaccine used, a note by the Department of Homeland Security stated.

These updated travel requirements reflect the Joe Biden Administration’s commitment to protecting public health, while they safely facilitate cross-border trade and travel that are essential to our economy, the notice said. The decision coincides with a significant rise in Covid-19 cases in Mexico due to the Omicron variant which is causing more than 50,000 contagions per day and an increase in hospitalizations.
