India surpasses 39 million cases of Covid-19

New Delhi, Jan 23 (Prensa Latina) 333,533 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in India, exceeding the 39 million people infected by the pandemic since January 2020, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

39,237,264 people have been infected in India, keeping the country as the second most affected by the infection after the United States.

India also reported 525 deaths from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 489,409.

36,560,650 patients have recovered so far.

Up until now, more than 715.5 million diagnostic tests have been carried out in local laboratories throughout the country.

1,619 million doses of vaccines have been applied in the country as part of the national immunization campaign against Covid-19.

It was further reported that more than 50 percent of the population aged 15 to 18 received the first injection.
