Belarus supplies emergency electricity to Ukraine

Minsk, Jan 25 (Prensa Latina) The Belarusian Ministry of Energy said that it supplied electricity to Ukraine for seven hours on Tuesday with a maximum power of 150 megawatts, under a bilateral agreement on emergency assistance.

Ukrainian media reported that the first power unit of the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant was turned off because its protection system was activated.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy assured that the country does not experience a shortage of power generation capacities and has sufficient reserve. More than 50 percent of that nation’s electricity is provided by thermonuclear plants.
