China dissatisfied with departures of US diplomats due to Covid-19

The Foreign Ministry said it is concerned about such an “incomprehensible and difficult to justify” decision because it would only increase the risk of the disease spreading among US personnel.

It also stated that currently “China is without a doubt the safest country in the world”, and urged Washington to respect its health regulations and to take into account its position.

Some reports by a number of news outlets regarding this matter even assured that the diplomats and their relatives want to return to the United States because they face very invasive epidemiological controls in China.

However, the Foreign Ministry of China stressed that the protocols are rigorous, scientific and also effective in protecting foreigners, and comply with the Vienna conventions on diplomatic and consular relations.
