The head of Government conveyed the apologies of his executive for the incidents that occurred in the past and asked to move forward with relations between the two nations.

Both countries agreed to appoint ambassadors in the near future and work on bilateral cooperation in a historic breakthrough, according to a statement issued after the meeting between Prayuth Chan-Ocha and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman in Riyadh on Tuesday.

The Thai ruler’s visit to Saudi Arabia is the first in 30 years after ties were severed over a 1989 theft of valuable jewelry and the subsequent assassination of three Saudi diplomats in Bangkok.
