Kenya boosts security due to threats against embassies

Nairobi, Jan 28 (Prensa Latina) The National Police Service (NPS) in Kenya on Friday announced through a communique that it has boosted security with the aim of avoiding attacks on European embassies located in this country.

The decision was taken after states such as France, the United Kingdom and Germany warned in the last few hours about the possibility that terrorist attacks occur around those diplomatic headquarters.

On Thursday, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs updated its recommendations for travel and stay in Kenya, requesting that if citizens travel to this African territory, they should maintain extreme vigilance and not go to crowded places until the terrorist threat is dissipated.

Explosive attacks often occur in Kenya, especially in tourist facilities, by the extremist group Al-Shabaab, which has its operational and logistic bases in neighboring Somalia.
