Havana, Jan 28 (Prensa Latina) Some 45 percent of Cuban population, that is, 5,054,186 people have received a booster shot against Covid-19, Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP, in Spanish) reported on Friday.

According to this update, 87.7 percent of Cubans (9,815,389 people) have been fully vaccinated with domestic vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala.

Some 10,561,720 people have received the first shot; 9,342,453 have been administered the second dose; and 9,009,649 have received the third one.

Cuba has administered 33,968,091 doses so far.

Despite the fact that most Cubans have been immunized against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, scientific institutions are working on a vaccine for children under two years of age, who have not been vaccinated against this virus.

According to a statement by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, it is necessary to work immediately to help this population group.
