Cuba prioritizes popular participation and boosts government programs

Havana, Jan 29 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Government is prioritizing popular participation as a way to boost the nation's programs to raise the people's quality of life.

That was one of the main ideas of the recent government visit to western Pinar del Rio province, along with the need to work from science and innovation as strategies adjusted to local realities.

President Miguel Diaz-Canel and other high-ranking officials have insisted on the need to implement a work style at all levels of government characterized by “getting down” to the grassroots, knowing first-hand the aspirations of the population and seeking solutions to the problems. In recent days, the president also visited some communities in Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara and Cienfuegos provinces, where he invited people to participate in the country’s social transformation.

During a recent visit to the Ceballos Popular Council in Ciego de Avila province, Diaz-Canel urged residents to provide their criteria in order to guarantee the quality and sustainability of the tasks carried out in their places of residence.

Cubn Minister of Finance and Prices Meisi Bolaños stressed this week the need to exercise greater popular participation in the management and control of budgets in the municipalities, and in the destinations of the monetary resources.
