Through an official statement, the Bolivarian government reaffirmed its support to that nation in the defense of multilateralism, as a basis for the consolidation of a more peaceful, equitable and prosperous world.

“President Nicolas Maduro, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and Government, congratulates the people of China and President Xi Jinping, for the beginning of the Lunar New Year corresponding to the Water Tiger, which represents growth and development, as a challenge and creativity,” the text initially states.

It also thanks that sister nation for its support and solidarity in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, which, it stresses, was essential in the successful implementation, by the Bolivarian Government, of adequate policies for the management and prevention of this scourge.

It also highlights China’s constructive role in favor of political dialogue and democracy in Venezuela, as well as its pronouncements against the implementation of unilateral coercive measures by the United States.

Venezuela reaffirms its full willingness to continue promoting, together with China, the consolidation of the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, as well as the community of shared destiny for humanity, the document states. “The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates its best wishes for this New Year of the Water Tiger to increase the prosperity and common fortune of our peoples,” the congratulatory statement to this Asian country concludes.
