Mining Union leader, Napoleon Gomez Urrutia, said that the work stoppage at San Rafael mine was lifted, after workers of section 333 accepted the proposals offered by the company to give answer to their fair demands.

He recalled that the strike broke out for the second time last Friday due to Americas Gold and Silver company insisted on its posture of not recognizing the National Union as the holder of the collective bargaining agreement.

Senator Gomez Urrutia announced that the strike at the Cosala mine has been lifted after the miners in section 333 accepted the Canadian company´s proposals in an assembly.

“This is a triumph of the Mining Union and one more step towards the labor justice!”, he expressed.

The mining consortium had intervened in the internal life of the Union to impose modifications which violate the legitimate rights of the workers, he pointed out, and refused to recognize the representatives of section 333, for which reason he demanded that it comply with the agreements and commit itself not to intervene in union life.

More than thirty sections of the Miners’ Union joined in this demand, expressing broad support and solidarity to resolve the conflict.
