Cuba reports 1,546 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths

Havana, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Thursday reported 1,546 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths in the past 24 hours, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

Therefore, Cuba has reported 1,049,406 cases and 8,420 deaths since March 2020.

The country’s lethality stands at 0.80 percent, well below the world’s 1.49 percent and the 1.83-percent lethality in the Americas, according to MINSAP.

It also reported that 20,517 patients are in hospitals or at home: 10,629 of them are suspected cases, 195 are under epidemiological surveillance, and 9,693 are active cases.

Among the latter 9,633 have a stable clinical evolution, while 60 people are in intensive care units: 24 in a critical state and 36 gravelly ill.

Some 2,971 patients were medically discharged in the past few hours, so the number of recovered patients rose to 1,031,234 (98.3 percent of all cases).

In order to detect the coronavirus, 18,117 real-time PCR tests were run on Wednesday, totaling 12,733,864 tests since the outbreak of the pandemic in Cuba.
