According to the official, the talks were focused on the bilateral agenda and trade and economic cooperation, as well as the regional and international situation.
Putin arrived in Beijing on Friday, where, in addition to the meeting with his Chinese counterpart, he will attend the opening ceremony of the 24th Olympic Games at night, the Kremlin reported.
This was the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders in more than two years. The previous meeting took place on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Brazil in November 2019.
The 20th anniversary of the signing of Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between Russia and China was celebrated last year.
The Treaty was extended for another five years, with the formal countdown of this period beginning on next February 28th, two decades since the exchange of the instruments of ratification and the entry into force of the Treaty.
