Moscow recalled them their commitments in the field of security and strategic stability, which are in force and were signed by their Governments; that is, we carry out this work in many ways, the official said at a press briefing.

US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland accused Moscow of being allegedly responsible for leaking to media Washington’s confidential document with replies to the Russian security proposals.

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said this Friday that his country’s authorities negatively assess the statements by the senior US official.

Earlier, El Pais, the Spanish daily, published the documents that allegedly contained the United States and NATO replies to the initiatives of agreements on security guarantees submitted by Russia.

According to the disclosed texts, the West is willing to discuss European security issues with Russia, but they do not agree with its key demands to stop the military bloc’s eastward expansion and return its military infrastructure to the borders it had in 1997.

On Wednesday, the US Department of State confirmed that the document published by El Pais is Washington’s written response to the Russian proposals.
