Zakharova called the recent speculations in the Western media on Moscow alleged invasion of Ukraine a “crime against the planet and democracy”, an error that the agency acknowledged.
The article in the German newspaper with the largest daily circulation in Europe, came out after the appearance on the Internet website of the Bloomberg agency of a headline announcing the apparent beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a mistake that the agency ackowledged.
On the latter, Dimitri Peskov, presidential spokesman, said that the mistake of that US media outlet demonstrates how dangerous the prevailing tension is, caused by daily statements from Washington, London and other European capitals.
He warned that any spark in a tense situation such as the current one is dangerous, although he considered that what happened “could hardly be a provocation” and pointed out that the agency itself apologized for the event.
Over the past few months, some countrys and media outlets in the West and Ukraine have been disclosing constant and identical statements on a possible Moscow invasion of Ukrainian territory, an opinion that the Kremlin has rejected.
Russia regarded such a strategy as an attempt to increase tension and repeated that the country poses no threat to anyone.
