Our country has always favored changing the African image, associated with poverty, conflicts and instability, among other things, he said at the Summit, where everyone agreed on the need to redouble efforts to attain that goal.

We all agree that, in order to essentially change that narrative, we must build a peaceful, stable and self-sufficient continent in every aspect, including food security, he said at a press conference in which he commented the deliberations at the Summit.

To achieve tangible and long-lasting improvements amid these challenges, the Summit urged Africans to use the continent’s potentials for its general prosperity and development.

The need to establish a strong cooperation among this region’s nations and the urgency of having media to correct current misinformation and guarantee African interests, were also relevant points discussed at the session, he said.

Under the slogan “Building Resilience in Nutrition on the African Continent: Accelerate the Human Capital, Social and Economic Development,” the summit of heads of State and Government from the member nations of this organization was inaugurated on Saturday.

African Union Commission Chairman Moussa Faki Mahamat and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, among other leaders, delivered speeches on food security and other issues, including economic growth, the fight against terrorism and Covid-19 in Africa.
