China demands that US revoke arms sales to Taiwan

Beijing, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) China on Tuesday demanded that the United States cancel its announced plan to sell arms to Taiwan worth 100 million dollars, an stressed that such an action violates the foundations of bilateral ties.

The Foreign Ministry warned that Beijing will take the necessary measures if Washington goes ahead with such a move, and called on it to respect the One China principle and stop threatening peace and stability in the region.

It demanded the end to military ties with Taipei and charged that actions such as arms sales send the wrong signals to the forces promoting separatism.

The text stressed that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory and with its interference the United States undermines China’s sovereignty and security, and violates international law.
