The signing of the legal framework took place during the working sessions of the University Congress 2022 in Havana, with an agenda of debates that prioritize the presentation of experiences on the contributions from higher education to sustainable development.
On the Cuban side, Higher Education Minister Jose Ramon Saborido penned the agreement, which highlights the support that the Caribbean nation has received in training professionals and professors in Bulgaria in the past.
Bulgarian Ambassador to Cuba Todor Kanchevski inked the document on behalf of his country, and expressed interest in boosting ties between both nations.
Saborido proposed holding a meeting between Cuban and Bulgarian officials and experts in 2023 to promote joint cooperation projects.
The agreement points out as areas of mutual interest the exchange and technical assistance in areas such as higher education linked to computerization.
The University 2022 Congress is being held from Monday to Friday with a program that has brought together professors, students and researchers from more than thirty countries to discuss the role of higher education in sustainable development.
