After a break due to Covid-19, the activity returned to Cuban soil and this time, a bike ride that involved sports glories Mirna Hechevarría (taekwondo) and Jesús Agramonte (handball) evidenced the fraternity between both peoples.

Under the motto, “Sport is life”, the Qatari nation called to commemorate the date throughout the world and, according to the ambassador in Havana, Jamal Al-Bader, what happened today in this capital ratified the friendship and bilateral good understanding.

The head of the diplomatic mission of Qatar highlighted in dialogue with Prensa Latina, the kindness and affection of the Caribbean people, which he has been able to verify in just over four months working here.

The cycling activity started in the Prado boulevard of the capital, the transit through the Malecón marked a first pause to continue to the end of the tour at the embassy headquarters.

For former Cuban athletes Hechevarría and Agramonte, the invitation to celebrate Qatar’s National Sports Day is a reflection of the solidarity and mutual affection between the two peoples.

Since 2011, Qatar celebrates the National Sports Day every second Tuesday of the month of February with the aim of promoting the healthy practice of physical exercises.
