Cuban friends strongly condemn illegal US blockade

Moscow, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) Activists of solidarity with Cuba in Russia, the United States, Ukraine, Brazil and Venezuela on Wednesday strongly condemned the hostile blockade that Washington has kept on Cuba for more than 60 years.

Linked through the Russian YouTube channel Europe for Cuba, participants in the program recalled that it was six decades since then US President John F. Kennedy passed the 3447 Executive Order, making the economic blockade official.

On the subject, Sharon Black, editor of the US newspaper La Lucha, warned that with such a policy Mr. Kennedy tried to destabilize the young Cuban government that, despite attacks and commercial banning from the very beginning of the Cuban Revolution, continued to tighten.

Russian Academic Alexander Jarlámenko stressed that Kennedy´s call set down the end of all Washington-Havana commercial relations, a system of measures that was expanded over the years, imposing sanctions even on third countries.

According to the senior specialist of the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the embargo term is an euphemism, since it does not represent in its total magnitude the framework of laws designed by the United States to prevent any type of economic, financial and trade.

Mr. Jarlámenko stressed that US blockade´s goal is to stop and destroy the Cuban progress, which has chosen the path of championing its sovereignty, national dignity, social progress and also building its own avenue of development.
