DR Congo presidential spokesman reveals conspiratorial signs

Kinshasa, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) The presidential spokesman of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) revealed that there are signs of a plan to destabilize the national security, but refrained from providing details.

The revelations follow the arrest on weekend of the presidency’s special security adviser François Beya for reasons still unknown.

The investigators have tangible elements on actions against the national security, said the official, who urged the population to disregard speculations about the issue spread in the media or on social media, and assured that “the situation is under control.”

The political panorama in the DRC is marked by the recent breakdown of the coalition formed by the Union for Democracy and Social Progress parties, of President Felix Tshisekedi, and the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy, of former President Joseph Kabila.
