Moscow, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Riabkov on Wednesday said that possible measures prepared by the United States are an attempt to threaten and blackmail the country, but the Kremlin does not consider them important.

US Senator Jeanne Shaheen recently stated that the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee was close to reaching an agreement between Democrats and Republicans on a bill for coercive actions against Moscow in case of an alleged invasion of Ukraine.

In an interview with the TASS news agency, the deputy foreign minister regretted the sending of a delegation from the US Treasury and State Department to Europe (the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and Germany) to discuss measures against Russia.

He considered the visit a link in the chain of multidimensional efforts to further worsen bilateral relations and aggravate the situation in Europe, despite the proposals we are making.

According to Ryabkov, the stability of Russian economy in the face of unilateral restrictive measures was proven by time and practice.

He reiterated that Moscow is open to dialogue and hopes that when the West receives its answers on security guarantees, it will take on a more constructive agenda.

He warned that, in the meantime, the country’s authorities are still analyzing the US reaction and receiving information on this issue.
