According to the update of the Constitutional Council, the body in charge of the process that runs from January 27 to March 4, Pécresse accumulates 939 sponsorships, followed by Macron with 926 and Hidalgo with 652, with a little more than 60 days left for the first round of the elections, which will have its ballot two weeks later, on April 24.

The frontrunners in the process, Pécresse and Macron, are two of the main favorites to dispute the second round of the elections, together with the leader of the extreme right Marine Le Pen and to a lesser extent the also extreme-right Éric Zemmour, who are lagging behind in the reception of endorsements, with 139 and 149, respectively.

The power to provide electoral sponsorships corresponds to mayors, regional and departmental councilors, deputies and senators.

One of the peculiarities of the process is that the endorsements must come from 30 different departments, out of the 101 in the country, and only 10 percent of them can come from the same territory.
