The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex, in Spanish) reported to Luanda´s press that the inauguration ceremony was headed by the consul Samuel Andrade da Cunha, who highlighted the realization of this process for the first time abroad.
The official said that it is one of the most important stages in the preparation of the general elections scheduled for this year.
Cunha called on all the Angolans that live in Congo to exercise their civic and democratic rights, and requested the help of the leaders of the different organizations to mobilize in favor of this cause.
Representatives of the Angolan civil society based in the neighboring country and of the groups created by the residents in Punta Negra and Kouilou, attended the ceremony, Minrex informed.
Angola began updating the electoral registry in September 2021, and at the beginning of this year the government undertook smilar steps abroad, through the work of its diplomatic representations.
According to preliminary estimates, around 12 million citizens will be able to vote.
