The official denied that such exercises block trade routes in the region, in response to accusations by Ukrainian authorities in this regard.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry protested against Russia’s military drills in the Black and Azov seas, as well as in the Kerch Strait.

Kiev asserted that “significant and unreasonable complication of international, primarily commercial shipping” may have “difficult economic and social consequences” for Ukrainian ports.

The Black Sea Fleet reported that a landing detachment of large Koroliov, Minsk, Kaliningrad, Pyotr Morgunov, Gueorgui Pobedonosets and Olenegorski Gorniak landing ships had completed an inter-fleet crossing around Europe.

In January and February, several naval exercises have been conducted in all areas of responsibility by Russia’s fleets under the overall direction of the Navy Commander-in-Chief, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, TASS news agency reported.

During the exercises, Russia’s Naval and Aerospace Forces conducted drills to protect national interests in the oceans and counteract military threats that may arise against the country from the seas and oceans.
