Cuba ratifies willingness to strengthen relations with UAE

Abu Dhabi, Feb 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca on Monday ratified his country's willingness to strengthen bilateral ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in the context of Expo Dubai 2020.

Malmierca, who is heading the Cuban delegation to its National Day, thanked the local authorities for the invitation and conveyed a cordial message from President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

At the official ceremony, Malmierca said that Cuba is willing to work and cooperate with all countries so that peace and security reign in an environment of respect for the self-determination of peoples, according to the Twitter account of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce.

He added that Cuba does not cease to work in favor of economic and social development, in an adverse context caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the intensification of the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade.

On the importance of Expo Dubai 2020, the minister said that it is a symbol of the universal decision to work together for a better world, and assured that Cuba’s presence at the business meeting aims to strengthen alliances with friends around the world.

As part of the day’s activities, the Cuban Foreign Trade Minister signed the Book of Honor of the event, which is considered an opportunity for exports and investments in Cuba.
