In recent days, the Brazilian president said that the meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on Wednesday was scheduled way before the Ukraine crisis, and the visit will focus on bilateral trade.
On Thursday, Bolsonaro said that he wants to have good relations with everyone, when asked by reporters on Washington’s possible pressures against this trip.
He replied that Brazil is Brazil, Russia is Russia, and he has relations with everyone. If Biden invites him, he will go to the United States with great pleasure.
Putin and Bolsonaro will discuss bilateral relations and topics of the current international arena during the talks on Wednesday, Presidential Spokesman Dmitri Peskov confirmed.
On Monday, he noted that Moscow and Brasilia have a very rich agenda, and potential areas in which interaction can be further deepened and expanded will be addressed during the visit.
In a statement in Brazil on Friday, Bolsonaro explained that his government is interested in fostering exchange in the spheres of energy, defense and agriculture. He noted that Brazil largely depends on Russia and Belarus’ fertilizers.
