The Cuban head of State congratulated the Center for Demographic Studies (CEDEM), attached to the University of Havana, on its 50th anniversary, and stressed that that institution must contribute with its studies to the implementation of the government program in that sphere.
Diaz-Canel described as admirable the social commitment of the workers of CEDEM, founded in February 1972, to researching on population and sustainable development and with remarkable contributions to the solution of issues regarding internal migrations and the organization and implementation of national censuses.
On Tuesday, the University of Havana hosted a theoretical program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this institution, including a ceremony to celebrate it, which was attended by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.
On his Twitter account, Rodriguez noted that that CEDEM’s studies and research are indispensable references in the implementation of a government program on demographic dynamics and the country’s development.
