Japan advocates for diplomacy to ease Russian-Ukrainian tensions

Tokyo, Feb 17 (Prensa Latina) Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Thursday advocated for diplomatic actions to ease tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

“A tense situation persists and anything could happen. Japan must strive to ease tensions through diplomatic means,” Kishida said at a meeting of his faction within the Liberal Democratic Party.

On February 15, the Japanese prime minister talked to Ukrainian head of State Volodymyr Zelensky and reiterated his commitment to a peaceful solution to the dispute between Moscow and Kiev.

A phone conversation between the Japanese prime minister and Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to take place this Thursday, local media announced.
