The warning responds to records obtained by the instance, from satellite images, which show a thin cloud of ash with south-east direction.
“This phenomenon is persistent within the current eruptive period that began in May 2019,” clarified the institute of the National Polytechnic School.
It then recommended the population to implement the pertinent measures and keep informed through the official sources established for that purpose.
During the first days of February, Sangay’s activity affected several provinces, among them Chimborazo, Los Ríos and Guayas.
The colossus, located in the Cordillera Real, specifically in the province of Morona Santiago, is one of the most active volcanoes in Ecuador, generating pyroclastic flows, lava and lahars.
