According to the agenda, the Paraguayan president will begin his trip with a visit to the monument in honor of the liberator Bernardo O’Higgins (considered the father of the Chilean homeland), where he will lay a wreath.
During his stay in this capital, Abdo Benítez will receive from the hands of Piñera the Order of Merit decoration, the highest distinction granted by the Chilean government to honor foreign citizens.
“The meeting will be in the framework of strengthening bilateral relations and with the aim of advancing towards regional integration,” highlights a message from the Paraguayan presidency on the social network Twitter.
The Paraguayan head of state arrived Thursday in Chile together with the first lady, Silvana Lopez, and his foreign minister, Euclides Acevedo.
Also part of the official entourage are the advisor on Strategic Affairs, Federico González, and the Paraguayan ambassador to Chile, Antonio Rivas.
The ties between Chile and Paraguay are based on cooperation, understanding and integration, as well as close collaboration and reciprocal support at regional and multilateral level.
