The plan for 2022 amounts to 1,647,766 tons of food, about 349,000 tons more than in 2021, according to Minister of Food Industry, Manuel Santiago Sobrino, during the meeting to assess the annual work of that ministry.
According to Granma daily, in order to achieve that purpose, direct contracts with producers, particularly of milk and beef, will be vital, as well as the consolidation of the wholesale market with consignment stock.
Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero addressed the need for the Ministry of Food Industry to better follow up the new economic actors in this sector, in order to support them and achieve a more effective business relationship.
He also stressed the importance of paying more attention to industrial, artisanal and non-state production, regarding safety and quality, and urged to be more rigorous to ensure that the technical specifications of each product are not violated.
It is necessary to produce more, but with quality, he said.
