On his Twitter account, the president noted that this is a history written by Cuban healthcare and science men and women.
He shared a tweet by the Finlay Vaccines Institute in which the institution stressed that Cuba is the only country in the world that can fight the Omicron variant of the coronavirus with the vaccination of its entire pediatric population.
Cuban scientists recently highlighted the good results of the immunization of children and teenagers against Covid-19.
In fact, Dr. Maria Eugenia Toledo, leading researcher of the Soberana 02 vaccine, hailed the decision of immunizing this age group before the outbreak of the Omicron variant in Cuba.
In early September, 2021, the Cuban regulatory organization approved the administration of the Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus vaccines, developed by the Finlay Vaccines Institute, to children between 2 and 18 years of age.
Thanks to this decision, Cuba became the first country in the world to protect that population group against the disease, followed by Nicaragua and Venezuela.
