The Swiss Foreign Ministry said that the country is ready to offer help as long as it is useful and requested.

According to it, this includes the role of host or mediator for talks or meetings in the case of a possible summit between the two leaders.

Both presidents accepted a proposal made by French President Emmanuel Macron to hold a meeting on the Ukraine crisis, which would also address issues on security and stability in Europe.

The meeting will be prepared by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, whose talks are scheduled for Thursday.

Relations between Russia and the West have become even more tense in recent days because Washington and its allies constantly accuse Moscow of preparing an invasion of Ukraine and, in this scenario, are strengthening their presence in Eastern Europe.

For its part, Russia condemns such claims and recalls that Kiev does not comply with the Minsk Protocol aimed at ending the conflict between the Ukrainian government and two self-proclaimed republics in the Donbas region.
