On his Twitter account, FANB’s Strategic Operational Commander, Domingo Hernandez, announced on Monday that three cavalry battalions are being deployed in the border area of Apure state, where irregular groups have been trying to take control of the area for several weeks.

The high command informed that these security units are carrying out reconnaissance and surveillance missions “to establish contact with the Tancol, fight them and expel them from our sovereign territory. Invaders have no place in the land of Bolivar and Chavez!” In another tweet, the commander reaffirmed that “in compliance with the orders issued by FANB’s Commander in Chief, Nicolas Maduro, our troops remain deployed in the Apure cross-border axis scanning and tracking hideouts and dens installed by Colombian narco-terrorists in our national territory.”

For the past few weeks, the State security forces and the FANB have carried out several operations to neutralize criminal gangs, eradicate laboratories and drug plantations in Venezuelan border territory and to expel irregular groups terrorizing the inhabitants of the region.

Senior officials of the Bolivarian Government and the President himself accuse Colombia of being behind these actions and others perpetrated in the state of Aragua by criminal gangs, with the purpose of destabilizing the country.
