Until April 2021 the Indochinese nation only reported 3,428 cases of SARS-CoV-2, but then the Delta variant of the virus, and now the Omicron, clouded statistics in a devastating way.
Thus, this Tuesday’s infected alone are 16 times more than in the first 15 months under the pandemic, bringing the cumulative total to 2,890,522. If the current progression continues, Vietnam will reach 3 million cases in two or three days.
The epidemiological situation is particularly serious in Hanoi, which today reported another unprecedented figure (6,860) and confirmed itself as the epicenter of the fourth wave of the disease.
The Health Ministry also reported 77 deaths today, bringing the total to 39,682. More than 3,000 patients are clinically compromised.
